| | Los Angeles, CA - Notice is hereby given that Glancy & Binkow LLP commenced a Class Action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of a class (the "Class") consisting of all persons who purchased securities of Corvis Corporation ("Corvis" or the "Company") (NasdaqSC: CORV), between AuThis action is brought on behalf of public investors who purchased the common stock of Corvis Corporation during the August 22, 2000 to January 29, 2001 Class Period. Corvis manufactures optical networking equipment. The defendants – securities broker/dealer Robertson Stephens, Inc. and its former managing director and senior research analyst Paul Johnson -- are charged with violations of Section 10(b) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (the "Exchange Act") and SEC Rule 10b?5. Robertson Stephens, Inc. is also charged with violations of Section 20(a) of the 1934 Act. The complaint alleges that defendants issued to the investing public false and misleading “Buy” recommendations on Corvis that artificially inflated, maintained or stabilized the market price of Corvis common stock during the Class Period and injured investors who purchased the stock at the time, relying on the integrity of the market price. On January 9, 2003, the SEC and the National Association of Securities Dealers charged Paul Johnson for issuing Buy ratings on Corvis to the public while privately advising a group of Robertson Stephens limited partnerships (in which Johnson had invested) to sell their Corvis shares. |
